Seven WorldView Films at IDFA 2014

We are incredibly proud to announce that seven of our WorldView supported films are being shown at IDFA 2014 in Amsterdam. The festival, now in its 27th year, dominates the documentary festival calendar and is the largest celebration of the genre in the world.

Alternatively, The Shore Break will be included in the IDFA Competition for First Appearance having previously received the IDFA WorldView Summer School Award in 2013. Elephant’s Dream will be having its Dutch premiere at the festival whilst The Storm Makers will take part in the in the Mid-length competition.

We have also received confirmation that Democrats, an intimate portrayal of the process of creating Zimbabweís new constitution, will be shown in the IDFA Competition for Feature-Length Documentary.

These extraordinary films cover a broad range of contentious issues, and some have already been lauded for their approach and style. Virunga has so far been awarded 15 international film awards, and has been instrumental in raising awareness for the plight of Virunga National Park and its inhabitants. Unearthed, a film that challenges the assertion that hydraulic fracturing is a safe, time-tested technology has been placed on the Official Selection at various festivals worldwide such as Sheffield Doc/Fest, Durban International Film Festival and Encounters International Film Festival.

We wish all of our supported filmmakers the best of luck at IDFA. To find out more about the shortlisted films, please follow the in-text links above or click here for showtimes.
