WorldView supported Dukhtar, directed by Afia Nathaniel, is coming to the UK!
Mara Pictures, a UK film distributor, acquired the Pakistani drama and plans to release the film theatrically across the UK in April. Speaking to ScreenDaily, Mara Pictures’ Sanam Hasan says she excited about the release; “Dukhtar is a beautifully shot, captivating film and a stunning debut by Afia Nathaniel. It fits well into our profile of unique cinematic explorations from South Asia. We are excited to bring the film to UK audiences.”
Dukhtar was recently selected as Pakistan’s entry for the 2015 Oscars, for consideration in the ‘Foreign Language Film Award’ category at the 87th Academy Awards. Afia Nathaniel was also named as OK’s Best Director as part of their celebration of Pakistan’s most influential individuals and high achievers.
Dukhtar (Daughter) is a drama/thriller set in Pakistan, where a mother kidnaps her ten-year-old daughter to save her from the fate of a child bride.
