WorldView-funded The Last Taboo has won an award for ‘General In-House Production’ at the Learning on Screen Awards held on 24 April.
The film was also recently part of the Official Selection for the Ethnografilm Festival held in Paris.
The Last Taboo, directed by Tony Steyger, uses humour and sincerity to tell the stories of two remarkable Kenyan men who are helping their communities to stop defecating in the open and start building toilets. And that’s a tall order when over 6 million Kenyans use the bush rather than the bathroom, in thrall to all sorts of taboos and cultural barriers.
The film was broadcast in the UK as part of World Toilet Day 2012 and continues to screen at various events around the world.
