The Shirt on your Back wins Amnesty Media Award

SOTB-sliderWe are incredibly proud to announce that The Shirt on your Back has won the Amnesty Media Award for Digital Innovation. Congratulations to all those involved!

The Shirt on your Back was the culmination of a WorldView partnership with The Guardian to produce a groundbreaking new media project to coincide with the first anniversary of the collapse of the Rana Plaza garment factory in Bangladesh, where over 1,000 people died. The resulting piece of interactive, digital journalism explores and questions the means through which our clothing is supplied to us. It traces the human cost of the Bangladeshi garment industry in words, video and pictures.

What the judges had to say

The winning entry in this category was built around a very simple but powerful concept which put the viewer and reader right at the centre of the story.

It combined human testimony with hard facts, clear writing, photojournalism and film – all wrapped into a really smart piece of digital journalism.

The judges said it was a hugely compelling piece of storytelling delivered with nuance and clarity.
